Come one, come all! The first Cal Poly SWE General Meeting is this coming Wednesday, September 28th! The meeting will include: opportunities to learn more about Cal Poly SWE and
the international Society of Women Engineers, free food, free freshman membership,
membership renewal (discount on merchandise for renewing members), SWE merchandise for
sale, and opportunity to build your resume and get involved—join a SWE Committee.
When: Wednesday, September 28th
Time: 6 p.m.

Join a Cal Poly SWE Committee
Are you interested in getting more involved? Looking for a commitment that requires only a
couple hours every week? If so, SWE Committees are for you! SWE is beginning to create
committees, a way for members to become involved without becoming an officer. Each
committee is centered on a specific event or interest—almost guaranteed there is a committee for
you! If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact the committee chair with your
contact information and interests.

SWE Ice Cream Social
Looking for something more delicious than a campus catering cookie?? Stop by Santa Lucia on

toppings, all you have to do is show up! Be ready to meet new friends, ask lots of questions,
sign up for free freshman membership, volunteer for a SWE committee, and enter to win

SWE Merchandise for Sale
SWE shirts are available for purchase in the new SWE Office for $12 each or 2 for $20.
SWE cups and bags are also available. Ranging from $3 - $10 we have coffee cups, bags,
thermal cups and water bottles.
All items will be available for purchase at the first SWE General Meeting on September 28th.
WEP Assistant Open Position
The Women’s Engineering Program is hiring a student assistant. This position works under the
direction of the Women’s Engineering Program (WEP), to initiate, plan and/or implement a
variety of program to promote the recruitment and retention of women engineering students.
Position is 10 hour/week with flexible scheduling. Salary is $10.00/hr. For more information,

Engineering Scholarship, co-sponsored with our partner NSA, is exclusively for students
pursuing a bachelors, masters, or doctorate in a field of engineering.

· Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems,
including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks and electrical distribution systems.
· Act as a first level escalation support for the maintenance teams to locally or
remotely troubleshoot and repair all hardware or controls software systems within a
Distribution Center.
· Facilitate failure analysis and incident review processes and implement process
improvements or retraining to avoid future incidents.
· Use diagnostic software to monitor performance of systems; collect and analyze
data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
· Apply subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic systems to
maximize system utilization.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree
· PLC/PC program knowledge and troubleshooting experience
· Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-
phase, 110 VAC, and 24 VDC systems
· HMI interfaces and program knowledge
· Advanced troubleshooting skills with PCs, servers and industrial controls
networking
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, relating technical issues to business
leadership
