On Building an Engineer Day, middle school students have the opportunity to participate in
hands-on labs to learn about the different types of engineering disciplines. These labs are
facilitated by Cal Poly professors and students. Throughout the day, students attend four out of
ten different labs.
This event occurs twice a year, during fall and spring. The upcoming one will be on Saturday,
November 5th from 8:30am-3:30pm. Labs will be held in various classrooms throughout
campus.
Volunteers are greatly needed! We will need help with various tasks in preparing for the event,

iFix It – Now Hiring on Campus
iFixit is looking to hire a part-time student to assist with technical
sales for the new Software-as-a-Service platform we are preparing to launch: www.dozuki.com
I've been working at iFixit for the past 1.5 years, and started on this
project in Spring. This is a great opportunity for a SWE member interested
in technical sales to have a very hands-on local job that is very rare to
have at this level in one's career (how cool is being able to say you played
an integral role in launching what will become a popular software brand).

If you are interested, please email me with your name, major and your first and second choice of who you want to have your interview with. Be prepared to bring your resume and dress formally for the interview. The interviews will last 20-25 minutes and you will be able to talk to the reps after your interview. A few students ended up getting internships after the mock interviews last year!
We will send you a confirmation email with the exact time, location, and the company you will interview with.
